The story of the 121 FA Regiment begins with the organization of the “First Light Battery” of Wisconsin National Guard on 11 May 1885.
The unit was HQ’d in Milwaukee, WI and initially commanded by CPT Joseph B. Oliver. This picture depicts members of the First Light Battery on August 11, 1888, in Pewaukee, WI enjoying lunch on their way to Ripon, WI.
By 1895 the unit was known as Battery “A” 1st Field Artillery, Wisconsin National Guard.
